Powder brows is a cosmetic semi permanent makeup technique designed to create eyebrows with a soft powder effect which we detail in our Ombre Brows Training course. The effect is achieved with a shading technique using a permanent makeup device or tattoo machine. A small needle is used to place the pigment into the skin with a quick hand motion, resulting in a pixelated effect of powder makeup.

The art in shading is to perfectly layer the pixels without making them appear denser and darker than your natural eyebrow hair. For clients who draw on their eyebrows everyday, this can be an amazing, beautiful solution. It is also a great alternative for clients that are not good candidates for Microblading or Combination Brows because their skin is too oily, as shading is suitable for any skin types!

Microblading vs Powder brows

Even though the two procedures are very similar, that is, both involve the artist inserting the pigment into the surface layers of the skin, the techniques used are different, as well as the results. Whereas, microblading creates individual strokes that resemble the eyebrow hairs, powder brows create small dots to achieve a more powdery shading effect.

It’s very important to know that the ombre powder brow technique can be combined with microblading. The effects that this combination creates are very fine hair strokes filled in with a smooth shading, for an amazingly natural brows effect.
